Sharmila's Everest Base camp fundraiser
Sharmila is one of our amazing volunteer advisors. She is also up for a challenge- of great heights! In March, she will be trekking to Everest base camp. A huge feat lies ahead and we are incredibly grateful that she is undertaking this adventure in aid of LDCA and raising critical funds for our charity. We will be following her progress and cheering her on every step of the way. The BBC have also published an article on her challenge that you can read here on the link below.
Please support her amazing challenge in aid of LDCA. We urgently need to raise funds to maintain services, every donation makes a huge difference. Thank you.

Pension credit update and winter fuel allowance
Pension Credit awareness drive as thousands of eligible pensioners yet to claim
Pensioners urged to check if they could be eligible for Pension Credit to secure the Winter Fuel Payment, worth up to £300 per household.

Pensioners whose weekly income is below £218.15 for a single person or £332.95 for a couple should check to see if they could be eligible. It is worth on average £3,900 a year and can also open doors to further financial help, such as housing costs, council tax, and heating bills, and the Winter Fuel Payment worth up to £300.

And, pensioners who own their own home or have savings or a private pension income could still be eligible – with DWP’s online calculator able to work out how much an individual could get.

You can contact us at LDCA for support and information on claiming pension credit.

While around 1.4 million pensioners are already receiving Pension Credit there are up to an estimated 880,000 households eligible for the support who are yet to claim and we can support you to both check if you are eligible and apply if you are.
